Elderly woman ‘STABBED in the neck in her garden’

A masked knifeman after an elderly woman was reportedly stabbed at the base of her neck in her front garden…she was attacked from behind and stabbed at the base of her neck.  

The pensioner, aged in her 70s, was saved by her hero neighbour who rushed across the road to intervene causing the masked attacked to flee.

Armed officers rushed to suburban town Middleton, Greater Manchester, after the horror morning knifing. 

The woman was left shaken by the unprovoked attack but was not seriously injured. She was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been released.

A nearby primary school was placed into lockdown following the attack on Crow Hill South, Middleton, on Thursday at around 11.20am. 

Officers have been carrying out house-to-house enquiries.

The attack is said to be unprovoked. Police have released a CCTV image of a hooded man it says could help the force with its investigation.
