The Prince and Princess of Wales attended the annual Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey on Monday, where all eyes were on Princess Kate as she shared a heartfelt moment with King Charles and Queen Camilla.
In a display of elegance and respect, the 43-year-old Princess performed a lovely curtsy as the King and Queen walked by her. Traditionally, both men and women bow or curtsy when greeting individuals of higher royal rank, including family members. This subtle gesture serves as a sign of respect for the royal family.
Dressed beautifully for the occasion, Kate wore a striking red Catherine Walker coat paired with a pillbox hat by Gina Foster while greeting senior members of the monarchy. Queen Camilla, 77, looked radiant in a pink wool crepe and satin coat dress designed by Fiona Clare, complemented by a coordinating beret hat by Philip Treacy.
This appearance followed the royal family’s recent celebration of International Women’s Day, during which a special tribute was shared on their official social media channels.
The post featured a series of images showcasing the female members of the family, all taken by female photographers, including Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, the Duchess of Edinburgh, Queen Victoria, Queen Alexandra, and the late Queen Elizabeth II. However, royal fans noted the absence of both Princess Diana and Princess Kate in the collection.
Monday’s event marked Kate’s first attendance at the Commonwealth Day service since 2023. She missed last year’s ceremony, a significant date in the royal calendar, after being diagnosed with cancer. Now gradually returning to public duties after announcing her remission, Kate joined the Princess Royal and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester for the service.
King Charles and Queen Camilla met with 30 guests, including the Prime Minister of Samoa, Fiame Naomi Mataafa, marking their first meeting since the royal visit to the country in October 2024.
As head of the Commonwealth, the King was also introduced to the inaugural Commonwealth Peace Prize winners, Imam Dr. Muhammad Nurayn Ashafa and Rev. Dr. James Movel Wuye.
In his annual Commonwealth Day message, Charles emphasized the importance of collaboration for peace and human rights and the need for the restoration of nature. He stated, “As we mark Commonwealth Day together, there is no more important task than to restore the disrupted harmony of our entire planet. For the sake of our younger generations’ threatened future, I can only hope that the Commonwealth will continue its vital work to restore that harmony.”
