Charles Spencer has found a heartfelt way to remember his beloved Labrador, Otis, who sadly passed away last year.

On Tuesday, the ninth Earl Spencer took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a touching tribute—a beautifully carved stone marking the spot where Otis’ ashes were laid to rest on the grounds of Althorp House.

The stone, glistening in the sunshine, was inscribed with Otis’ name and crafted by a longtime Althorp stonemason.

Alongside the photo, Charles wrote: “Buried my wonderful old Lab’s ashes in the Park at Althorp today – the handsome stone carved by BB, who’s worked at Althorp for more than 60 years.”

Friends and followers were quick to offer their condolences. Reverend Richard Coles simply wrote, “Dear old Otis.” One fan commented, “It is hard losing our furry friends. Diana will take good care of him. You may see a butterfly.” Another added, “I’m so sorry for your loss of Otis. They take a piece of us with them. BB made a lovely marker. You’re in my prayers. RIP Otis.”

Charles first shared the news of Otis’ passing last July, writing: “Farewell to Otis, our wonderful Labrador, who had to be put to sleep last night. He was nearly 13. Otis will now join his father, Karoo, and grandmother, Ella, in a beautiful spot in the Park at @althorphouse.”

He went on to say that Otis was adored by everyone at Althorp, with many remembering him as a “total legend.”

While Otis’ memory will live on at Althorp, Charles recently revealed that he has welcomed a new canine companion to his home, ensuring that the estate continues to be filled with the joy of a beloved pet.
