Michelle Obama has revealed that her husband Barack wanted to have a third child, but she was always content with being just a mother of two.
The couple, who will celebrate their 33rd wedding anniversary this October, share daughters Malia, 26, and Sasha, 23 – and Michelle has now confirmed that while her husband wanted to add to their brood, she wasn’t so keen on the idea.

During an appearance on Kylie Kelce’s Not Gonna Lie podcast this week, Michelle, 61, said of her two children: ‘I was like, “I think I’ve been lucky with these two.”‘
‘Barack was like, “We should have a third,” and I was like, “Dude!”‘ she recalled, before she admitted to thinking at the time: ‘We’re gonna get a crazy one.’
The former First Lady also opened up about the fears she experienced during her early years of motherhood.
‘I think the sadness or the postpartum that I felt with my kids really came from, like, you love these babies so much,’ she explained to Kylie, who is expecting her fourth child with husband Jason Kelce.
‘You immediately, you’re connected, and you think, “Oh my god, all you have is me. I feel so bad for you. I wish you had a parent,”‘ Michelle admitted.
The two women also spoke about the fact that both of their husbands are girl dads.
‘That’s because that’s what your husband deserved,’ Michelle told Kylie, before she revealed: ‘That’s what I told Barack: “Dude, you need a bunch of women in your life to smack you around.”‘
Michelle also revealed that the reason she wouldn’t go back into politics – or ever run for President – is because she wouldn’t want her children to be back in the limelight again.
The girls were nine and seven when Barack became the 44th President of the United States in January 2009.
‘I wanted them to have the freedom of not having the eyes of the world on them,’ she said of her career choices since they left the White House in January 2017.

‘And so when people ask me would I ever run, the answer is no. If you ask me that, then you have absolutely no idea the sacrifice that your kids make when your parents are in that role.
‘The thought of, like, putting my girls back into that spotlight when they are just now establishing themselves.
‘I think we’ve done enough … they’ve already served their time,’ she said of Malia and Sasha.
