Angie Stone DIED in car accident following a performance in Alabama

Angie Stone – a member of the iconic hip-hop trio The Sequence – was killed in a car crash at age 63 following a performance in Mobile, Alabama, Friday night….the accident involved ‘a commercial vehicle.

The late star’s rep Deborah R. Champagne confirmed the tragic news to TMZ on Saturday. 

The accident occurred around 7 a.m. early Saturday morning and has left her family ‘devastated’ as Stone’s spokesperson revealed that a number of her client’s loved ones had spoken to her just ‘last night.’

Per Variety, the Grammy winning singer-songwriter was coming from a show with her band members and background singers when her Sprinter turned over and was the only fatality.

The singer, born Angela Brown, is survived by her son Michael Archer, 27, daughter Diamond Stone, 47, and two grandchildren.

Her daughter, Diamond, confirmed the news with an emotional Facebook post, in which she declared: ‘My mommy is gone [sobbing emojis].]’ 

Stone was a founding member of The Sequence,  trio from Columbia, SC who make up one of of the first female rap groups.

Their 1980 hit Funk You Up was later sampled in Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk and Dr. Dre’s Keep Their Heads Ringin’. 

After six years in The Sequence, between 1979 and 1985, Stone launched her own solo career in the late 1990s. 

Her debut album, 1999’s Black Diamond, went gold in the United States.
