An unknown number of casualties are feared following a devastating accident on Tuesday evening, March 4, when a truck carrying a 40-foot container overturned, crushing a shuttle bus, tricycles, and bystanders at the Idemili Junction near Oba in Idemili South LGA of Anambra.
Mrs. Margaret Onabe, the spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state, confirmed the incident.
Reports indicate that the truck experienced brake failure while descending a hill, which led to the driver losing control and colliding with the shuttle bus, several tricycles, and other vehicles.
Eyewitnesses described the scene: “The truck crashed into tricycles picking up passengers at the junction and a shuttle bus, trapping individuals underneath the container, including bystanders waiting for transportation.”
