Chukwuma Soludo, the Governor of Anambra State, has presented a cheque of N500,000 to Miss Ifebude Benson, the top candidate in the 2023 Senior Secondary Schools Certificate Examination conducted by the National Examination Council (NECO).
The award was given by the state’s Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, on behalf of the governor. Ifebude was represented by her father, Mr. Ben Benson, during the ceremony held on Sunday, March 23, in Akwa.
Prof. Chuma-Udeh emphasized that the award is part of the governor’s initiative to promote academic excellence among students in Anambra.
She stated, “The state government has made significant investments in education to ensure that it aligns with standards found in developed nations and to empower Anambra’s youth to compete effectively with their peers worldwide.”
Ifebude, who hails from Ndikelionwu in the Orumba North Local Government Area, achieved A1 grades in all nine subjects she undertook during the examinations. She has since been accepted into the University of Abuja to study Medicine and Surgery.
In response, her father, Mr. Benson, expressed his gratitude to Governor Soludo for the award, stating that it would significantly motivate his daughter to continue excelling and positively represent the state.
