Two men have been arrested in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State for the gang rape of a 12-year-old girl.
The Yobe State Police Command, in a statement released on Sunday, February 16, 2025, named the suspects as Bawa Saidu, 22, and Weti Saleh, 25, both from Jalingo Village.
The victim received medical attention, and the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Damaturu.
In a separate incident, police and vigilantes in Gujba rescued a 15-year-old boy, Hassan Alh Yau, who was kidnapped on February 12th.
The rescue operation involved a gun duel, during which the kidnappers fled, leaving behind the victim and a single-barrel gun. Authorities are searching for the fleeing suspects.
Additionally, in Damaturu, police raided an uncompleted building in Alimari Ward and arrested three suspects, including gang leader Sale Ahmadu, for using the building to hide stolen property. They recovered a dismantled motorcycle and other stolen items.
The Commissioner of Police commended the Command’s efforts and reaffirmed their commitment to combating crime in the state.
