Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville has forecasted that President Donald Trump’s administration could face a “collapse” within the next thirty days.
During an interview with Mediaite founder Dan Abrams, Carville advised Democrats to refrain from aggressively challenging Trump on every issue, instead urging them to observe as events unfold against him.
Abrams noted that the Democrats’ strong opposition to Trump’s nominations only fuels the Republican narrative, making them appear overly combative.
In response, Carville suggested that Democrats should “play possum,” implying that they should step back and let the administration unravel on its own.
“I believe this administration, in less than 30 days, is in the midst of a massive collapse—both structurally and in public opinion,” Carville stated.
The 80-year-old strategist pointed to polling data showing Trump’s approval rating had dropped from the low fifties to the upper thirties.
Meanwhile, at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) over the weekend, Trump claimed that more Americans supported his performance during his first four weeks in office.
