Ed Sheeran’s public performance in India was abruptly cut short after a police officer intervened, stopping him from singing.
A viral video captured the moment the British singer-songwriter was performing on Church Street in Bengaluru, drawing a crowd as he began his hit song “Shape of You.”
However, within a minute, local authorities cut off his microphone and ended the impromptu performance.

Following the incident, Sheeran addressed the situation on Instagram, clarifying that his team had secured permission for the street performance.
“We had permission to busk, by the way. Hence, us playing in that exact spot was planned out beforehand. It wasn’t just us randomly turning up. All good though. See you at the show tonight x,” he wrote.
Authorities, however, maintained that the event did not have official approval, while Sheeran’s team insisted that prior arrangements had been made for the brief performance.
