At least one person has died following a runway collision involving a private jet owned by Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona on Monday, February 10, officials confirmed.
The accident occurred just before 3 p.m. when a Learjet 35A, registered to Neil’s business, Chromed in Hollywood, veered off the runway upon landing, according to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The jet crashed into a parked Gulfstream 200 near a ramp, AZ Family reported. Four people were aboard the Learjet, which had flown in from Austin, while one person was on the Gulfstream.
Neil was not on the jet at the time of the crash, but sources told TMZ that his girlfriend, Rain Andreani, and her friend were on board. Both women survived and were taken to the hospital, with Andreani reportedly suffering five broken ribs. The dogs traveling with them also survived.
Two pilots were also on the Learjet, and according to Neil’s lawyer, one of them tragically lost their life in the crash.
Poison frontman and Neil’s friend, Bret Michaels, expressed condolences on Facebook, writing, “My deepest sympathy and condolences to the pilot who passed away in Scottsdale Airpark, as well as my thoughts and prayers to our family friend Rain, her friends, and all those injured in this tragic landing.”
Neil’s lawyer also shared a statement on X, saying, “Mr. Neil’s thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved, and he is grateful for the critical aid of all first responders assisting today.”
Jet Pros, the private jet charter company that owns the Gulfstream, confirmed that there were no injuries on its aircraft. One individual at the scene refused medical attention, according to Scottsdale officials.
Footage circulating on social media captured the Learjet struggling to stop on the runway before crashing into the parked Gulfstream. The impact was so strong that it pushed the stationary aircraft several yards before both planes came to a stop.
Images from the site showed a jet resting on the tarmac without landing gear, with emergency personnel surrounding the scene. Authorities stated that the Learjet’s left main landing gear appeared to fail upon touchdown, leading to the accident.
This crash follows a string of recent aviation incidents that have unsettled travelers. On January 29, a devastating mid-air collision between a U.S. Army helicopter and an American Airlines jet at Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C., claimed 67 lives. Just two days later, a jet carrying six people crashed into a busy Philadelphia street and exploded, killing all six on board and one person on the ground.
