Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Monday, January 24, that Ukraine has signed 28 security agreements with its international partners, according to the presidential press service.

Speaking at a commemorative event in Kyiv attended by several foreign leaders, Zelenskyy suggested that these agreements could serve as a foundation for broader security guarantees in Europe.

Among the dignitaries present for the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion were European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Antonio Costa, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.

“On this foundation, we must collectively build an effective and comprehensive system of guarantees to ensure a just and lasting peace for Ukraine and all of Europe,” Zelenskyy stated.

The agreements, which cover defence, financial, and political cooperation, aim to prevent the conflict from escalating further. Zelenskyy also emphasized the urgent need for strengthening Ukraine’s air defence systems, describing it as a crucial step toward establishing “a new European air shield.”
