The Princess Royal, 74, Rewears Tartan Suit From Her Teenage Years At Six Nations Rugby

Princess Anne captivated onlookers at Murrayfield Stadium as she proudly supported the Scottish Rugby Union during the Scotland v Italy Six Nations match on Saturday.

The Princess Royal, 74, who serves as patron of the Scottish Rugby Union, met with players competing for the Cuttitta Cup in Edinburgh.

Known for her timeless style, the King’s sister looked effortlessly chic in a sharp tartan suit as she took to the pitch, warmly greeting players following Scotland’s 31-19 victory. She wore a tailored navy cropped jacket, perfectly coordinated with matching navy trousers and a neatly knotted cloud-blue silk scarf around her neck.

Princess Anne has long been celebrated for her sustainable approach to fashion, frequently rewearing beloved pieces from her wardrobe.

Saturday’s match was no exception, as she donned the same tartan ensemble she sported earlier this year at the Six Nations 2024 clash between Scotland and France in February.

While the exact age of the suit remains unknown, it’s entirely in character for the thrifty royal to recycle outfits that date back decades.

The Princess Royal was photographed wearing a similar dark pea coat in 1970

A photograph from 1970 shows a young Princess Anne wearing a strikingly similar pea coat, featuring double-breasted buttons, a cropped silhouette, and wide lapels.

Given her well-documented history of rewearing pieces from her youth, it wouldn’t be surprising if the royal had preserved the 55-year-old coat from her teenage years.
