The Duke and Duchess of Sussex enjoyed a cozy dinner with close friends Michael Bublé and his wife, Luisana, on Saturday, February 8, following the successful opening of the 2025 Invictus Games.
The couple dined at Vij’s, a renowned Indian restaurant south of downtown Vancouver, where they had previously visited in 2024. The eatery has also welcomed Prince William and Princess Kate in the past.
“They are amazing, extremely beautiful, and very friendly,” restaurant owner and head chef Vikram Vij said.
“Meghan is awesome and loved all the food. She even remembered the chilis from last time, and I was totally impressed that she knew ‘bhindi’ is the Hindi word for okra.”
During the meal, Prince Harry opted for the restaurant’s signature lamb popsicles—a rack of lamb with fresh mint—while Meghan and the group indulged in a variety of dishes. According to Vikram, they also sampled his personal favorite snack, a schnitzel with butter chicken sauce. Meghan was pleasantly surprised to discover their pasta dish, made with prawns and a coconut milk curry sauce.
After dinner, the royal couple visited the kitchen, where Vikram described them as “gracious and grateful.”
With Vancouver experiencing heavy snowfall that week, the restaurant owner recalled a moment of concern for Meghan’s safety. “The parking lot was covered in snow, and I held Meghan’s hand because I didn’t want her to slip—I was so worried!” he said. He also playfully offered assistance to Prince Harry, adding, “He was wearing fancy shoes, and I asked, ‘Do you want me to hold your hand?'”
The Montecito-based couple has been friends with Vancouver-born Michael Bublé and his wife, Luisana, for several years. In 2024, the Canadian singer even joined them at a curling event at Hillcrest Community Centre.
