The Duke And Duchess Of Sussex Delight Fans With Surprise NHL Appearance

Embracing the Canadian spirit, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a surprise appearance at an NHL game between the Vancouver Canucks and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Following the kickoff of the 2025 Invictus Games, Prince Harry and Meghan arrived at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena, where Harry had the honor of performing the ceremonial puck drop.

He was joined on the ice by Canadian Invictus team members Lee Jarratt and Andre Crocker, alongside Canucks Sports & Entertainment Chairman Francesco Aquilini.

For the occasion, Meghan wore a Givenchy coat—a sentimental choice, as it was the same one she donned when announcing her pregnancy with Prince Archie. She paired it with a Valentino turtleneck sweater and matching stiletto boots.

The couple is in Canada for the Invictus Games, the international sporting event founded by Prince Harry in 2014 to support wounded, injured, and sick military service personnel. This year’s event, held across Vancouver and Whistler, runs from February 8 to 16 and marks the first time winter sports have been included in the Games’ history.

The opening ceremony at BC Place in Vancouver featured performances from Katy Perry, Noah Kahan, Chris Martin, and Nelly Furtado. Throughout the event, Harry and Meghan were seen exchanging affectionate glances and holding hands.

Speaking about the significance of the Games, Harry shared: “The Games were born more than a decade ago from a promise I made to myself—a sacred obligation after my own decade of military service—to do whatever I could to help my fellow brothers and sisters heal and champion everything we stand for.”

Adding to the royal presence, Denmark’s Prince Joachim and Princess Marie are set to attend, with the Danish Palace confirming their arrival on February 15, just before the closing ceremony.

The Games began with an intimate dinner on Friday night, where Meghan took the stage to greet the competitors. Although she hadn’t initially planned to speak, she introduced her husband with a heartfelt tribute.

“We are just thrilled to be here, and I would be remiss if I didn’t take the opportunity to introduce someone who means a lot to me. And I know he means quite a lot to all of you. You will see him throughout this week—at the Games, probably curling with you, cheering you on. He’s in it with you, and you’ll see him through all of those moments.”

As Harry joined her on stage, Meghan sealed the introduction with a passionate kiss, earning cheers from the crowd.
