Queen Mary captivated onlookers with her elegance as she attended a prestigious awards ceremony in Copenhagen on Tuesday.
The 53-year-old Danish royal presented the Ministry of Education and Research’s 2025 EliteForsk awards at the Black Diamond in the Danish capital. She embraced transitional dressing by re-wearing pieces from British fashion labels, including The Fold and Princess Kate’s beloved designer, Alexander McQueen.
The mother-of-four exuded sophistication in a rosy-pink blouse from The Fold, featuring long sleeves and a wrap-style front. She paired it with a burgundy asymmetric fluted skirt by Alexander McQueen and complemented the look with matching suede boots.
The Princess of Wales famously wore a satin and lace wedding gown designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen and has frequently relied on the brand’s designs for milestone royal appearances.
Burton departed McQueen in September 2024 after 13 years to take on the role of creative director at Givenchy.
Mary and Kate are often compared for their shared dedication to early childhood initiatives and their similar fashion sense. Both royals favor designers such as Emilia Wickstead, Erdem, and Jenny Packham.
For Tuesday’s engagement, Mary accessorized her outfit with custom rose-quartz earrings from Dulong Fine Jewelry. She was joined by Denmark’s Minister of Education and Research, Christina Egelund, to present the EliteForsk prizes.
The five award recipients, all affiliated with Danish universities and recognized for their groundbreaking research, included Professor Andreas Hougaard Laustsen-Kiel, Professor Cecilia Ramlau-Hansen, Professor Ingvild Bode, Professor Albert Schliesser, and Professor Morten Mattrup. Their research spans diverse fields, from military decision-making and snake venom studies to fertility, quantum physics, and glass technology.
Mary’s appearance follows her and King Frederik’s attendance at a memorial service at Holmen Church in Copenhagen, marking the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Queen dressed solemnly in a black ensemble paired with a grey overcoat.
Looking ahead, Frederik and Mary will host a special arts and culture reception at Christiansborg Palace on Friday.
