Carole Middleton celebrated her 70th birthday on Friday, and the Princess of Wales has a heartfelt gift lined up to mark the milestone.
During an unannounced visit to South Wales on Thursday, Princess Kate stopped by Corgi, a family-run textile manufacturer in Ammanford, near Swansea, known for its handcrafted socks and knitwear.
Before leaving, Kate was presented with a cream zip-up cashmere cardigan made especially for her, along with a navy cashmere wrap intended as a birthday gift for her mother, Carole.
The thoughtful present was handed to Kate by 12-year-old Cari, daughter of Chris Jones, 56, who co-runs Corgi with his sister Lisa Wood, 55, after taking over the business from their late father in the 1990s.
“That’s so sweet of you, thank you, I wasn’t expecting it,” Kate warmly told Cari upon receiving the gifts.
While details of Carole’s birthday celebrations remain under wraps, she’s likely to mark the occasion surrounded by close friends and family. For her 60th birthday, Carole celebrated in grand style on the private Caribbean Island of Mustique, with festivities that reportedly included pink champagne, a jazz band, and fireworks.
This year, she may opt for a quieter celebration at home in Bucklebury, where she and her husband Michael are active members of the local community and often enjoy countryside walks.
Reflecting on her birthday month, which she shares with Kate, Carole once shared: “It’s no surprise I’ve learned to love January; it’s the start of a new year, a time to put healthy habits in place, and it’s my birthday month—so there’s every good reason to celebrate with loved ones!”
