Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are undoubtedly cherishing the early days with their newborn daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi.

The couple recently announced the joyful news of their second child’s arrival, born on 22 January at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. The palace confirmed both mother and baby are healthy and doing well.

In an official statement, the palace shared: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12:57 pm, at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London. The baby was born weighing 4 pounds and 5 ounces. Their Majesties The King and Queen, along with other members of The Royal Family, have been informed and are overjoyed with the news.”

While the couple celebrates their daughter’s arrival, Athena’s birth came earlier than expected. The palace had previously announced that Beatrice’s due date was set for the spring.

According to the NHS, premature labour occurs before the 37th week of pregnancy, often increasing the risk of health complications for newborns.

As Beatrice and Edoardo care for their tiny daughter, the princess may find solace in the support of the Duchess of Edinburgh, who also experienced a premature birth with her first child, Lady Louise Windsor.

Lady Louise arrived four weeks ahead of schedule, and Sophie endured a life-threatening emergency caesarean, during which she lost nine pints of blood due to internal bleeding. This shared experience may offer Princess Beatrice a comforting connection during this tender time.
