A manhunt is underway after a teenage boy arrived at Liselotte Funcke School in Hagen, Germany, intending to target his ex-girlfriend with a weapon.

Armed police rushed to the school on Wednesday, February 12, after reports that the teen, believed to be armed, was seen near the building around 8:30 a.m. Students and teachers promptly alerted authorities.

The girl is now safe, according to police.

The suspect, believed to be between 16 and 18 years old, is reportedly the girl’s ex-boyfriend and not a student at the school.

Officers are currently searching for the teen in Hagen’s city center. Police and armed personnel have been seen patrolling the area and remain stationed outside the school entrance.

A police spokesperson told Bild newspaper, “The student in question is with us and is being questioned. We are now searching for a person in the city center.”
