Jessica Mulroney, former close friend of the Duchess of Sussex, recently took to Instagram to reveal distressing news about her family.
The Canadian stylist shared that one of her twin sons, John, suffered a broken femur during a skiing accident.
“Two hospitals, five days @sickkidstoronto, and a surgery later—we feel so lucky that we can now tell the twins apart. Thank you for all the well wishes. John will be back in action soon enough,” Jessica wrote, alongside photos of her son receiving treatment, including an X-ray showing the severity of the injury.
Supportive messages quickly flooded the comments, with many sending their best wishes for John’s recovery.
Jessica lives in Toronto with her husband, Ben Mulroney—son of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney—and their three children: twins John and Brian, and their 11-year-old daughter, Ivy. The trio famously played key roles in Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s 2018 royal wedding in Windsor.
Jessica and Meghan’s friendship began on the set of Suits and blossomed over the years, with the pair even enjoying girls’ trips together.
However, in 2020, their relationship reportedly soured after influencer Sasha Exeter accused Jessica of exhibiting “textbook white privilege” within the fashion community. Jessica’s public apology, in which she referenced Meghan as one of her “closest friends,” allegedly contributed to the rift.
Since then, Meghan has seemingly distanced herself from Jessica, with noticeable signs of their estrangement—Jessica does not follow Meghan’s new Instagram account, launched in January.
While Meghan has never publicly addressed the rumored fallout, she last mentioned Jessica in the Sussexes’ 2022 Netflix docuseries. In a touching moment just before Prince Harry’s proposal at Nottingham Cottage, Meghan was seen video-calling her friend, exclaiming, “Oh my God, Jess, it’s happening. He told me not to peek.”
