The Duchess of Sussex returned to Montecito on Tuesday midway through the Invictus Games but made sure to send a thoughtful message to Prince Harry and the athletes.
Meghan shared a photo on Instagram Stories showing gifts she brought back for their children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three. The snap featured sweet Canadian treats, including chocolate bear paws, nougat, and Timbits—bite-sized doughnuts from Tim Hortons—as well as personalized green jerseys for the kids.
“A taste of Canada and The Invictus Games for our little ones!” Meghan captioned the post. She also made it clear that while she’s no longer in Canada, she’ll still be cheering on Harry and the Games from Los Angeles, adding, “Cheering you on from home!”
Prince Harry will remain in Canada for the Games until the closing ceremony on Sunday, October 16. After Meghan’s departure, he continued his role by presenting medals at the Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding Novice and Biathlon finals.
A source close to the Invictus Games confirmed that Meghan’s early departure was planned: “Meghan went home to be with her children. This is Prince Harry’s event, and she was there to support him, but leaving early was always the plan.”
The couple shared tender moments during their time at the Games, including a kiss at the star-studded opening ceremony and Harry playfully teasing Meghan about singing upon their arrival in Whistler.
They also enjoyed two double-date evenings with Canadian singer Michael Bublé and his wife, Luisana Lopilato, dining at the Indian restaurant Vij’s and Italian eatery Il Caminetto.
On her last outing in Whistler, Meghan tried tubing down a snowy hill. Dressed in a black puffer coat and beanie, she expressed her nerves before the ride, squealing, “No, no, I really don’t want to do it!” as Harry encouraged her, saying, “You’ll be absolutely fine.” Meghan burst into laughter during her ride, and Harry couldn’t contain his giggles as he watched.
Prince Harry founded the Invictus Games in 2014, with the inaugural event held in London. The next Games are scheduled to return to the UK in Birmingham in 2027.
