A mass shooting at a manufacturing warehouse in New Albany, Ohio, has left one person dead and five others injured.
New Albany Police responded to reports of an active shooter at the KDC/One facility on the 8800 block of Smith Mill Road North shortly before 11 p.m. on Tuesday night.
Authorities confirmed that one person was killed, while five others were transported to nearby hospitals. Police described the incident as a “targeted attack.”
The suspect has been identified but remains at large. However, officials believe the individual is no longer in the immediate area. In an update posted at 1:26 a.m., the New Albany Police Department (NAPD) announced that all employees had been safely evacuated from the building.
At least 20 individuals were moved from one part of the facility to another during the evacuation.
Residents are being advised to avoid the area as the investigation continues and the search for the suspect remains active. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact NAPD at 614-855-1234.
The KDC/One facility, which manufactures cosmetics for LBrands stores, is part of the New Albany Beauty Park. According to the New Albany Chamber of Commerce, the site has produced over 1.5 billion units across 3,000 product SKUs since opening in 2012.
This tragic incident occurred less than 24 hours after another fatal shooting in Hamilton, Ohio, roughly 118 miles away. In that case, police responded to reports of gunfire on Clovernook Drive around 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday. Authorities stated the shooting followed an altercation between two individuals, resulting in one fatality.
