The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspect accused of stabbing an Uber driver and stealing his car.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to journalists on Monday, February 24, in Lagos.
According to Hundeyin, the attack occurred on Saturday at 7:34 p.m. in the Ile-Zik area of Agege. The Uber driver had reported at the Isokoko Police Division that the suspect boarded his Toyota Camry at Nitel, along Old Abeokuta Motor Road, Agege, with a destination of Marriott Hotel, GRA, Ikeja.
However, upon reaching Ile-Zik, the suspect allegedly pulled out a sharp knife, stabbed the driver multiple times, and fled with the vehicle.
Following the report, a team of police officers tracked the stolen car to Oshodi, where they intercepted and arrested the suspect.
Hundeyin confirmed that the vehicle was recovered, and the injured driver was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
He added that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
