Police in Lagos State have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly beating his girlfriend to death in the Ijedodo, Isheri-Osun area of the state.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that the crime occurred on Friday around 8 p.m.
According to Hundeyin, a neighbor reported the incident at the Isheri-Osun Police Divisional Station.
“The neighbor said he witnessed the suspect assaulting his girlfriend in his room for reasons yet to be determined. A few minutes later, the suspect screamed for help.
“Upon arriving at the apartment, the neighbor found the victim lying unconscious on the bed with visible signs of violence on her body. She was immediately rushed to a hospital in Ijegun, where doctors confirmed her dead,” Hundeyin said.
Police detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene and the hospital, where they inspected and documented the evidence.
Hundeyin added that the victim’s body had been taken to a morgue in Yaba for an autopsy, while the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
