Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has hit back at Elon Musk after the billionaire called for him to be declared an “international criminal” in a social media exchange.
The controversy erupted when Musk shared a post from X user Mario Nawfal, which included a video of Malema saying the EFF would “cut the throat of whiteness”, alongside a separate clip of former Black Land First (BLF) president Andile Mngxitama, known for his inflammatory rhetoric against white people. The post quickly gained traction online.
Responding via his @elonmusk X account, Musk demanded immediate sanctions against Malema, escalating tensions.
In a sharp rebuttal on his @Julius_S_Malema account, Malema dismissed Musk as a “typical spoiled brat” and a “direct beneficiary of Apartheid whiteness.” He also accused Musk of racism, stating, “I know black people look the same to you, typical racist. Look closer, and you will realise those are two different people.”
Malema further defied Musk’s comments, saying: “America is exposing us to its stupidity. I don’t care about your sanctions; I will never stop fighting for black people to be equal to white people, and if that makes me an international criminal, I am proud to be one.”
The EFF has since publicly defended Malema amid the heated exchange.
