Jay-Z Accuses Lawyer Tony Buzbee Of Blackmail Over Male Accuser Allegations

Rapper Jay-Z has filed new court documents accusing attorney Tony Buzbee of attempting to extort large sums of money from him through two separate accusations—one of which was dismissed and the other never brought to court.

According to TMZ, Buzbee sent Jay-Z two demand letters in November 2024. The first letter involved a Jane Doe who accused Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of r@ping her in 2000 when she was 13. The second was related to a John Doe who claimed Jay-Z s3xually assaulted him at a Beverly Hills party in 2015 after being drugged by someone other than Jay-Z.

Jay-Z has firmly denied both accusations, calling them “false and ridiculous in every respect.” His legal team characterizes Buzbee’s letters as blackmail, alleging Buzbee demanded “something of substance” to settle the claims.

Last week, the Jane Doe case was voluntarily dismissed, a legal win for Jay-Z and Diddy. However, Jay-Z claims in his latest filing that the lawsuit’s timing was strategic.

He alleges Buzbee filed it just before his daughter Blue Ivy’s Hollywood premiere for Mufasa: The Lion King to put him in a difficult position—either attend the premiere or avoid media scrutiny. Jay-Z ultimately attended the event with Blue Ivy and Beyoncé but did not speak to the press.

In November, Jay-Z filed a lawsuit against Buzbee under an anonymous identity, accusing him of extortion. He later identified himself as the plaintiff, and Buzbee sought to have the case dismissed.

Jay-Z is now fighting to keep his lawsuit alive, stating in court documents that he views Buzbee’s actions as “an existential threat to my reputation, my career, my family, and everything else I have spent my life achieving.”

Despite the Jane Doe case being dropped, Buzbee remains defiant, telling TMZ, “We expect that lawsuit, which is frivolous, to be dismissed.”
