Sibongile Dlamini, the wife of Constable Banele Sikhosana, a murdered officer from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), has been arrested for allegedly orchestrating the hit that claimed his life.

Constable Sikhosana was fatally shot on February 7, 2025, while opening his tuck shop in Rest, Kwa-Thema, Ekurhuleni. The assailants also took his service pistol.

Following the incident, authorities apprehended a suspect, Nhlizitozabantu Magwanyana, at the Kwa-Thema Hostel. Magwanyana reportedly confessed to the killing and claimed that Dlamini had hired him. According to EMPD acting chief Julius Mkhwanazi, the hitman received the final payment shortly after the murder.

Another suspect remains at large, but police indicated that an arrest is expected soon.

Investigators also revealed that this was not the first attempt on Sikhosana’s life. Dlamini had allegedly tried to poison him a week before the shooting. Sikhosana was on sick leave, recovering from the suspected poisoning, when he was killed.

During a memorial service at Sikhosana’s home on February 13, Dlamini was seen crying. She was arrested the following afternoon, February 14, while preparing his funeral arrangements, which took place on February 15.

The suspects are set to appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

A photo posted by Dlamini showed that Sikhosana had paid her bride price in December 2024.
