Female student, 17, attempts suicide AFTER being repeatedly bullied by schoolmates

A 17-year-old female student has attempted suicide after she was repeatedly bullied and assaulted at a high school in Ethekweni – Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa. 

The victim who is in Grade 11 slit her wrists and overdosed on medication on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was called to the home and found the teenage girl in a critical condition. She was rapidly transported to a local hospital.

When interviewed, her mother informed Reaction Officers that her daughter was being bullied and nothing had been done to the perpetrators.

The mother had returned from work on Thursday afternoon and forced open the door to find her daughter unconscious on the kitchen floor.

The mother further informed the officers that the bullying could not be controlled and her daughter opted to end her life.

One of the assaults was recorded on a phone and had gone viral in 2024.

The group of bullies can be seen on a video harassing her daughter, yet no actions were taken against them.
