The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested Jimoh Abdulrahman for allegedly assaulting his wife, Mrs. Akintunde Bidemi Taiwo, a nursing mother.
The arrest took place on Saturday, February 15, 2025, following the circulation of a disturbing video of the incident online.
SP Sunday Abutu, spokesperson for the command, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday, February 16. He stated that the case has been transferred to the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a comprehensive investigation and subsequent arraignment.
“On February 15, 2025, at around 19:00 hours, the Ekiti State Police Command arrested Jimoh Abdulrahman for severely assaulting his wife, Mrs. Akintunde Bidemi Taiwo, at Nova Area, Ado Ekiti,” Abutu said.
The Commissioner of Police, Eribo, acted promptly after being informed of the viral video, instructing the Divisional Police Officer at Oke-Ila, Ado Ekiti, to take immediate action.
“Oke-Ila division operatives quickly apprehended the suspect, and the case has now been transferred to the GBV Unit of the State CID for further investigation and legal proceedings,” Abutu added.
