A 23-year-old man, Solomon Fabiyi, has been arrested by the Ekiti State police for allegedly attempting to use his young nephew, Jomiloju, for a money ritual. He was apprehended by a police team on February 14, 2025.
During interrogation, Solomon, who hails from Kwara State but was born in Ekiti, admitted that a native doctor instructed him to provide someone for a ritual.
He claimed the ritual would not be fatal but would leave the individual with a lifelong ailment.
Solomon confessed he chose his nephew, intending to use the money from the ritual to ensure Jomiloju received an education and a “good life,” despite the ailment. He added that he lives with Jomiloju’s mother and helps care for the child.
Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson for the state police command, Sunday Abutu, said Solomon confessed to the crime and has since been charged in court.
