Countess Karen Spencer has shared a significant life update nearly a year after her split from Earl Charles Spencer. On Thursday, the 52-year-old posted a scenic view from her new home on Instagram, signaling the start of a “new chapter.”
“Well… At long last, three weeks ago, we finally moved into our temporary new home. Still waiting for the horses to arrive—hopefully next week! Doesn’t quite feel like home without them,” Karen wrote to her followers.
She continued: “This new chapter is already taking shape,” and went on to discuss her ongoing commitment to changemakers, highlighting her recent hosting of Social Innovation House at Davos.
Karen also gave a glimpse into her countryside life, sharing that she now lives with two sheep and describing her new surroundings as “incredibly peaceful.” She added, “Lots and lots of boxes everywhere! I’m looking forward to sharing more of my new home life once things start coming together! The photo is the view out onto the garden and paddocks where there will hopefully be horses joining Lucky and Minty soon.”
Her followers responded with encouraging messages in the comments. One wrote, “Beautiful view… looks so tranquil, just perfect for a fresh chapter,” while others added, “Happy for you,” and “I’m supporting you on your new journey!”
Karen recently moved out of Althorp House, where she had lived with Charles Spencer, the brother of Princess Diana. Their separation was announced last June via the Mail on Sunday, with Charles stating, “I just want to devote myself to all my children and grandchildren, and I wish Karen every happiness in the future.”
The former couple, who wed in 2011, share one daughter, Lady Charlotte, born in 2012. Karen has two children from a previous relationship, and Charles is a father of six from prior relationships.
Since their split, Charles has gone public with his new partner, Professor Cat Jarman, whom he met during an archaeological investigation at Althorp. Speaking to The Mail on Sunday, Charles shared, “I’m too old for hearts and flowers stuff, but the best way to describe it is that with Cat, I can be myself. She knows who I am—who I really am—and she brings out the best in me.”
