A 15-year-old boy beat 80-year-old man to death with a slider as he cowered on his knees, a murder trial heard.
A girl, aged 13, filmed the ‘pure violence’ inflicted on Bhim Kohli and could be heard laughing in footage played in court on Monday.
Mr Kohli, who was walking his dog in a park yards from his home when he was attacked, died the following day of his injuries.
The boy, who cannot be named, has been charged with murder while the 13 year-old girl, who the court heard ‘encouraged the violence’, has been charged with manslaughter following the incident in Franklin Park, near Leicester, in September.

Opening the case against them at Leicester Crown Court on Monday, prosecutor Harpreet Sandhu KC told how on September 1 last year, Mr Kohli ‘did what he did each day’ and left his home in Bramble Way to walk his dog at Franklin park.
But he said Mr Kohli did not get the opportunity to walk his dog for long or return home as he had the ‘misfortune to encounter these two defendants’.
He told the court: ‘They used racist taunts against Mr Kohli. The boy used violence against Mr Kohli. The girl encouraged the boy to use violence against Mr Kohli.’
The trial, expected to last six weeks, continues.
Mr Kohli was taken to hospital but died on September 2.
