A Catholic Priest is facing backlash after being accused of flogging a 50-year-old teacher at the school he oversees.
Reverend Fr. Jude Muokwe, a priest from the Roman Catholic Church, Awka Diocese, is alleged to have assaulted Mrs. Ikeorah Maureen in her classroom during school hours.
The victim, a widow from Umuanugwo village, Ifitedunu, is a Primary 6 teacher at Angel’s Primary School, Ifitedunu. The incident occurred on February 12, 2025.
Reports suggest that the teacher questioned the priest after he reportedly failed to honor a contract agreement concerning the pupils’ lesson fees. This allegedly led to the priest physically assaulting her.
In an emotional account following the incident, the teacher, a grandmother, was seen crying as she described what happened.
“He came and started flogging me and slapping me. He claimed I called a meeting with the teachers. I did not call any meeting,” she said, showing the marks on her face, back, and legs.
