A baby died from burns after his intoxicated mum attempted to warm him up with a hair dryer then passed out with it still on, EmmanuelsBlog has gathered.
Morgan Alyson Creel, 32, from Georgia in the US, now faces an indictment for second degree murder.
Creel called emergency services after waking up to find her son, reportedly six weeks old, unresponsive in November 2023, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.
When they arrived Creel said she had been lying down with her baby trying to warm him up with a hair dryer when she fell asleep.
Police tried to perform CPR on the child, who had severe burns to his right side, but he could not be saved and was pronounced dead.
The incident report states officers found a ‘marijuana smoking apparatus’ on the back porch.
Authorities accuse Creel of being under the influence of a controlled substance when the baby died.
She was arrested the next day on one count of cruelty to children in the second degree and was later released on bond.
Almost a year later, while still on bond, she was caught allegedly weaving in and out of traffic and arrested for driving while under the influence, Law & Crime reports.
Then earlier this month, a grand jury indicted her on an additional charge of second-degree murder, according to an indictment seen by Fox 5 Atlanta.
Creel allegedly ‘…did cause cruel and excessive physical and mental pain by leaving a blow-dryer on, and blowing heated air near said child while said accused was passed out and under the influence of a controlled substance,’ according to the indictment, obtained by the news outlet.
Creel was booked into Coweta County Jail on January 24.
