In a tragic incident in Nnewichi, Nnewi, Anambra state, three siblings—a 5-year-old boy and two girls, aged 7 and 9—were brutally murdered by unknown assailants, and their bodies were discovered in a deep freezer.
The children, identified as Ejezie Chikaima Daviana (7), Ejezie Chimziterem Dominica (9), and Ejezie Chimdilim David (5), were home alone when their mother, Mrs. Chikazor Ejezie, a lecturer and nurse, left for an exam. Upon returning, she found the door to the house wide open, which was unusual as the children would typically lock the door when they went out to play.
Her husband, Mr. Ejezie Udochukwu, who lives in Irrua, Edo State, was informed of the grim discovery by his wife on February 1. He rushed to Nnewichi after receiving the call.
“My wife couldn’t find the children when she returned home. She searched for them, even at the church where they served as altar boys and girls, but they were not there,” Udochukwu said. “In despair, she opened the deep freezer, and there, to our horror, were the lifeless bodies of our children.”
The children had been eating when the assailants reportedly stormed the house around noon, as food was found abandoned on their plates. The bodies have been taken to the morgue, and a report was filed at the Nnewi Police Station. The case is under investigation, and Udochukwu expressed his devastation over the loss of all three of his children.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident, stating that the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, has ordered a thorough investigation. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for further inquiries.
This heartbreaking event follows the deaths of three other siblings just one month ago, who were found lifeless in their father’s car in Nise, Awka South Local Government Area. The children, aged between two and six, were discovered with their mouths bound and blood smeared inside the vehicle, suggesting a violent crime.
