2025 UTME: Mixed Reactions As 94-Year-Old Man Registers

Adedapo Idowu, a 94-year-old man, has registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to fulfill his lifelong dream of studying Political Science at the University of Ibadan.

Idowu completed his registration at the JAMB Professional Test Center in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The registration for the 2025 UTME began on January 31, with over 700,000 candidates already registered, including 11,000 underage applicants, according to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Idowu expressed that his fears about pursuing education at his age were dispelled after his smooth registration experience. His story was highlighted in JAMB’s latest bulletin.

“I can now achieve my dream at an advanced age,” he said. “The registration staff gave me a sense of belonging through their warm reception at the registration venue.”

He also advised fellow candidates to prioritize professionalism and contentment in their educational journey.

Pa Idowu’s story has sparked a debate on X (formerly Twitter), with mixed reactions from Nigerians about his decision.
