Joseph Aloba, the father of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, has urged the Nigerian Police to summon Mohbad’s wife, Omowunmi, and his brother, Adura, to provide information about the circumstances surrounding his son’s death.
In a recent press conference organized by actor Yomi Fabiyi in support of justice for Mohbad, a video allegedly sent by Mohbad’s brother, Adura, was played, raising further questions about the singer’s death. Fabiyi suggested that Adura might have information regarding Mohbad’s passing, which led to a confrontation between Mohbad’s mother, Abosede, and Fabiyi during the event.
In response, Mohbad’s father issued a statement expressing frustration over his attempts to reach out to Adura, who was reportedly present in the house when Mohbad died. He criticized Adura’s silence, claiming that the brother has not spoken about the events leading up to Mohbad’s death, despite numerous efforts to contact him.
The statement read: “I am calling on the Nigeria Police to summon my son, Adura Aloba, and Omowunmi Cynthia Adebanjo to provide clarity on the death of my son, Ilerioluwa. This is prompted by the recent press conference organized by Mr. Yomi Fabiyi, where a video allegedly sent by Adura to him was discussed, which may be linked to Mohbad’s tragic passing in his home. This could have been resolved earlier if not for my wife’s interference, which blocked all attempts to reach Adura.”
He continued, “After Mohbad’s death, I and other family members made several attempts to contact Adura to find out what happened on that tragic day. However, all our efforts were blocked. Recently, during an interview on STV’s morning show, I voiced my concerns about Adura’s silence. He was in the house when Mohbad passed away but has refused to speak, possibly influenced by others whose motives remain unclear. This is an obstruction of justice.”
Mr. Aloba added: “I urge the police to ensure the safety of Adura and Omowunmi when they come forward to provide information to the authorities. Their cooperation and testimony are crucial in uncovering the truth behind Mohbad’s death.”
