Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has revealed that his life improved significantly after his son’s untimely passing.
Mohbad died under controversial circumstances on September 11, 2023, at the age of 26.
In an interview with media personality Akin Abolade, Aloba reflected on the changes in his life, attributing them to divine intervention and his son’s spirit.
“Yes, my life got better after Mohbad’s death because he was my friend. He had plans to do many things for me, but they didn’t let him. After his death, the spirit of Mohbad and God combined to send people to help me,” Aloba said.
He shared that compassionate Nigerians had gifted him new assets, including a car, a truck, and other items.
“Even the car and everything I have now were given to me by people. It’s beyond ordinary. It’s the spirit of Mohbad and God that led them to assist me,” he added.
Aloba also shed light on the struggles Mohbad faced during his lifetime, stating that many of his son’s plans were thwarted.
He alleged that Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, and her family now control most of the late singer’s properties.
“They did a lot concerning that boy (Mohbad). All his landed property is in their possession. Even the land he bought for me to build a church, which I forced him to buy and use to mold blocks, was later used to bury him,” Aloba claimed.
He further disclosed that Mohbad had planned to buy him a house after completing his tour, a purchase that had already been paid for before his death.
Reflecting on his life journey, Aloba recounted how Mohbad’s birth marked a turning point. He became a singer after money from Mohbad’s naming ceremony was stolen, with Mohbad serving as his backup singer from the age of one.
