Jessica Alba shared a candid glimpse into the challenges she and Cash Warren faced during their nearly 17-year marriage, months before rumors of their separation surfaced.
On January 8, TMZ reported that the couple had recently separated and were preparing to file for divorce.
In April 2024, the 43-year-old actress opened up about her marriage during an appearance on Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt’s BDA Baby podcast.
“It’s all rosy for 2.5 years, but then after that, you become roommates,” Alba admitted. “You’re just going through the motions. It’s the responsibility. It’s a lot of, like, checking the boxes.”
Alba and Warren, 45, first met in 2004 on the Vancouver set of Fantastic Four, where Alba starred as Sue Storm and Warren worked as an assistant to the director. The couple married in May 2008 and share three children: daughters Honor, 16, and Haven, 13, and son Hayes, 5.
During the podcast, Alba revealed that her daughters Honor and Haven were both unplanned pregnancies, while their son Hayes was a planned addition to their family.
Alba also reflected on how their once-regular date nights gradually faded. “We were good about keeping weekly date nights in our calendars, but eventually, that stops because of whatever,” she said.
She acknowledged the complexities of long-term relationships, saying, “We have the friendship and the comfort of, like, ‘you’re not going anywhere,’ and sometimes you don’t treat those people the best. You don’t consider their feelings in the way you would with others.”
Alba concluded with a lighthearted comment: “That’s something I think is a constant work in progress. If you’ve figured it out in your relationship, let me know.”
