Gospel artist Timileyin Ajayi, who was recently arrested for the murder of 24-year-old NYSC member Salome Adaidu in Nasarawa State, has pleaded not guilty to the charge of culpable homicide.
Ajayi appeared before Justice Simon Aboki at the High Court of Justice in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, on Monday morning, January 27.
He faces one count of culpable homicide, punishable by death, under Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria.
The 32-year-old was arrested on January 12 in connection with the murder of Adaidu, a National Youth Service Corps member who had been serving at Nicon Insurance in Abuja before her death.
Salome was killed during a visit to Ajayi’s home in the Papalana area of New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
When paraded before the media, Ajayi confessed to the crime, stating that Salome, whom he described as his girlfriend, had allegedly cheated on him and that he had no regrets about the killing.
