While the Duchess of Sussex is focused on her new ventures, Prince Harry has some important matters to address in the UK. The Duke is set to testify in the High Court later this month in his legal case against News Group Newspapers.
Additionally, his appeal against the Home Office’s decision to downgrade his security arrangements while in the UK is scheduled to be heard in April.
Sources close to Harry say he cannot visit the UK with his family unless their safety is guaranteed. “Safe visits would allow his children to experience his home country and enable him to better support his charities,” a friend of the Prince shared.
This security dispute has further strained Harry’s already tense relationship with his family. Friends of the Duke have claimed that his attempts to contact the monarch about the issue have gone unanswered. However, sources close to the King argue that it would be “wholly inappropriate” for him to intervene.
Sadly, Harry’s once-close bond with his brother, the Prince of Wales, seems nearly irreparable.
Nevertheless, the Duke and Duchess still have ties to Europe, having invested in property in Portugal, where Harry’s cousin, Princess Eugenie, spends part of the year with her husband, Jack Brooksbank, and their sons, August and Ernest.
Harry made it clear in December, during an appearance at the New York Times’ DealBook Summit, that he enjoys his Californian lifestyle. “I very much enjoy living here and raising my kids here,” he said, adding that he believes it is “the life my mum wanted for me.”
In Montecito, the couple enjoys family bike rides, beach walks, and father-son surf lessons for Harry and Archie. They also have cozy dinners with close friends. An insider described their community as “supportive and close-knit,” emphasizing the joy, positivity, and fulfillment they experience in this meaningful chapter of their lives.
“They are active members of an exclusive social circle in Montecito,” said a local source, noting that they regularly support their friends’ causes and make an effort to attend events.
