Stunning Photos As Denmark Royals Host First New Year’s Gala Dinner

King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark dazzled on Wednesday evening as they hosted a magnificent New Year’s Gala Dinner at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen.

The grand banquet, a cherished royal tradition, welcomed members of the government and Denmark’s official representatives.

This year’s event marked a historic milestone as it was the first time the royal couple hosted the gala since Frederik ascended the throne in January 2024.

Queen Mary’s Enchanting Look

For the special occasion, Queen Mary, 52, captivated in an exquisite forest green velvet gown adorned with delicate lace sleeves. She elevated her regal ensemble with the dazzling Danish Emerald Parure tiara, paired with matching emerald and diamond drop earrings.

The tiara, commissioned in 1840 for King Christian VII’s wife, Caroline Matilda of England, features emeralds dating back to 1723. When not in use, it is displayed at Rosenborg Castle in Copenhagen and cannot be taken out of the country.

Mary completed her look with a chic half-up, half-down hairstyle, a bronzed makeup base, and a glossy pink lip.

King Frederik’s Distinguished Appearance

King Frederik complemented his wife’s elegance in his ceremonial military uniform. Both royals proudly displayed their honors, including the prestigious Order of the Elephant on chains.

Crown Prince Christian Joins the Celebration

Their eldest son, Crown Prince Christian, 19, also attended the gala, marking his return home after a three-month stay in East Africa. Following his parents’ lead, Christian looked sophisticated in a black tailcoat, crisp white shirt, and white bow tie.

Princess Marie and Prince Joachim Shine

Princess Marie turned heads in a luxurious navy gown with royal blue trim, accessorized with a sparkling clutch and a diamond tiara. She arrived alongside her husband, Prince Joachim, adding to the evening’s royal glamour.

Other Royal Guests

The gala also welcomed Princess Benedikte, 80, and Queen Margrethe. The Queen Emerita made a striking impression in a cerulean blue velvet gown paired with a winter jacket. Her ensemble was completed with a fairytale tiara and dazzling sapphire earrings.

The New Year’s Gala Dinner was a resplendent display of Danish royal tradition and elegance, setting a remarkable tone for the year ahead.
