Esther Adaidu, the older sister of 24-year-old Salome Eleojo Adaidu, a former National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who was tragically murdered by singer Timileyin Ajayi in Nasarawa State last weekend, has denied any knowledge of a relationship between her late sister and the suspect, while calling for justice.
Ajayi had claimed that he had been in a romantic relationship with Salome for a year and that he killed her after she allegedly cheated on him.
However, in an interview with Channels TV, Esther revealed that she had never met Ajayi before the tragic incident. “We don’t know this so-called Timi guy. We had never seen him until we were informed that he murdered and dismembered our sister. I demand justice for my sister. He is the one who killed her, and he admitted it to me,” she stated.
Salome’s uncle, Samson Adaji Adaidu, also expressed the family’s stance, saying, “We learned of this through the Nigerian Police, and we are expecting justice from them.”
He described the horrific details of the crime, stating, “He didn’t just kill her, he butchered her into pieces. He cut her body into over 50 pieces and left them in six polythene bags. It’s clear he prepared her body for consumption.”
The Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, reassured the public that justice would be served.
“The investigation is ongoing, and once completed, the suspect will be arraigned in court. We want to assure the family and the public that this suspect will face the law if found guilty. We encourage anyone with additional complaints against him to come forward so that they can be investigated.”
Addressing rumors about Ajayi’s profession as a gospel singer, Nansel clarified that the suspect is a cryptocurrency trader.
Ajayi remains in custody at the Nasarawa State Police Command’s Criminal Investigation Department as investigations continue.
