In an interview with The Times, Sarah revealed that her parenting anxieties are often heightened by the dangers of social media.

“You worry about them constantly. Even now, as adults, I still do,” she said. “I think young people today face more challenges than ever. Social media is a cesspit, and it’s terrifying what they’re exposed to.”

The Duchess also opened up about her recent health struggles, having been diagnosed with two types of cancer within a year. “It was tough,” she admitted. “I’m usually a positive person, but cancer feels like a bomb going off in your life. One diagnosis is hard enough, but having two in such a short time really tested me. I won’t deny there were dark moments when I thought about my mortality.”

In June 2023, Sarah announced she had undergone successful treatment for breast cancer. By January 2024, it was revealed she had also been diagnosed with malignant melanoma.

Reflecting on her journey, Sarah shared on Instagram: “I’ve been taking time to process my second cancer diagnosis. After being treated for breast cancer last summer, I was recently diagnosed with malignant melanoma, thanks to my vigilant dermatologist. While it was a shock, I’m in good spirits and deeply thankful for the love and support I’ve received.”

During the interview, Sarah expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of her daughters. “Beatrice and Eugenie have been my rock,” she said. “We call ourselves ‘The Tripod’ because we hold each other up, no matter what.”

The Duchess and her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, who co-parent their daughters, were notably absent from the royal family’s Christmas celebrations at Sandringham last year. Instead, the pair is believed to have stayed at Royal Lodge, their home in Windsor Great Park.
