Former Real Madrid star Roberto Carlos is reportedly living at the club’s training ground in Valdebebas as he navigates a contentious divorce from his wife of over 15 years, Mariana Lucon.
The 51-year-old football icon, who married Lucon in June 2009, shares two daughters, Manuela and Mariana, with her. According to Estadio Deportivo, the couple has now separated, and the divorce proceedings are expected to be complex due to Carlos’ substantial fortune, estimated at €160 million (£133 million).
Lucon is said to remain at the couple’s primary residence, while Carlos’ in-laws are occupying his second property. As a result, the former Brazilian full-back has temporarily moved into Real Madrid’s training facilities.
Carlos, who spent 11 successful years at Real Madrid between 1996 and 2007, won four La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies during his time at the club. He has since returned as a club ambassador.
The 2002 World Cup winner also made headlines a decade ago when he revealed in an interview that he has 11 children with seven different women.
