Royal fans have often speculated about how the Princess of Wales preserves her children’s clothing, and during her visit to South Wales on Thursday, she provided a fascinating glimpse into her approach.
While touring Corgi, a family-run knitwear and sock-making business in Ammanford, near Swansea, Kate, 43, admired the craftsmanship and shared that she “archives” all of her children’s clothing.
She noted that well-made garments “wear really well” and expressed her appreciation for reusing quality pieces. “It’s so lovely to reuse the things that are well made,” she remarked.
Over the years, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis have frequently been seen wearing heirloom pieces and hand-me-downs.
Many of George’s outfits have been passed down to his younger siblings, while Charlotte was once spotted wearing a pair of red buckle-up shoes that previously belonged to her uncle, Prince Harry, during William and Kate’s royal tour of Germany and Poland in 2017.
Prince Louis has also embraced tradition, wearing a blue and white outfit for his Trooping the Colour debut in 2019—previously worn by Prince Harry in the 1980s. Additionally, he donned his father William’s sailor suit for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.
The youngest Wales sibling has inherited several of George’s pieces, including a petrol-blue Amaia jacket, a collared sweater, and red-striped dungarees, continuing the family’s tradition of reusing cherished clothing.
