Princess Ingrid Alexandra Beams in New Portraits Celebrating Her 21st Birthday Amid Family Challenges

The Norwegian royal family marked Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s 21st birthday on Tuesday with a heartfelt celebration and a series of personal photographs.

The royal household’s social media shared a collection of joyful images on Instagram, including a striking portrait of the second-in-line to the throne in military uniform.

Other photos captured Ingrid Alexandra enjoying a boat ride, exploring a snowy landscape, and attending Princess Märtha Louise of Norway’s wedding to Durek Verrett.

At the wedding, the princess dazzled in an emerald-green pleated maxi dress paired with a cream floral lace bolero. She was joined by her younger brother, Prince Sverre Magnus, 19, who looked sharp in a forest-green velvet blazer.

The post’s caption read: “The princess, who is currently serving in the Armed Forces, turns 21 years old.”

Fans and well-wishers quickly flooded the comments section with warm messages, such as “Happy birthday, our future queen of Norway,” and “Happy birthday, beautiful Ingrid.”

Born on January 21, 2004, at Rikshospitalet University Hospital in Oslo, Princess Ingrid Alexandra has already taken significant steps toward her future role. At 19, she moved out of the royal residence, Skaugum, to a trendy Oslo neighborhood, Grünerløkka.

In January, she began her military service with the Northern Brigade of the Norwegian Army, following in the footsteps of her father, Crown Prince Haakon, a general in the Norwegian Armed Forces. Her training includes hand-to-hand combat and living among 800 soldiers and 200 civilian employees.

A graduate of Elvebakken Upper Secondary School in Oslo, Ingrid Alexandra has also worked as a school assistant and environmental worker at her former school, Uranienborg School.

The milestone birthday comes amid a challenging year for the royal family, as Marius Borg Høiby, Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s eldest son from a previous relationship, has faced legal troubles, including allegations of assault and a recent arrest. Despite these difficulties, the family remains united in celebrating Ingrid Alexandra’s achievements and bright future.
