Prince William has had to postpone a scheduled royal engagement at the regiments in Wattisham, Suffolk, originally planned for Thursday. This would have marked his first visit to the regiments.
Kensington Palace released a statement explaining the decision, citing poor weather conditions that would have significantly disrupted the planned activities.
The statement read: “With regret, this engagement has been postponed as a result of poor weather, which would have significantly restricted the planned programme. The Prince of Wales sends his sincere apologies to those he had been due to meet and hopes to reschedule his visit at the earliest convenience.”
The visit was intended to familiarize the Prince of Wales with the regiments, provide an opportunity to meet service personnel, and observe regular training exercises. The poor weather also affected plans for William to arrive at the flying station in a Wildcat helicopter, a reconnaissance aircraft used by the AAC.
While the engagement will be rescheduled, no new date has been announced yet.
A Promising Year Ahead for William and Catherine
Despite this delay, 2025 is shaping up to be a significant year for William and his wife, Catherine. Recently, Catherine shared the uplifting news that her cancer is in remission, and royal experts anticipate she will gradually resume her duties alongside William.
Royal biographer Robert Jobson said: “Last year was exceptional, with William stepping into a solo global-statesman role. Going forward, I think Catherine will spend more time at his side. They’ll remain mindful of their children’s education but will prioritize duty when necessary.”
Catherine, 43, expressed gratitude to The Royal Marsden hospital, where she received chemotherapy, ahead of a visit to the facility in Chelsea, London.
She said: “My heartfelt thanks go to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year. The care and advice we received have been exceptional. It is a relief to now be in remission, and I remain focused on recovery.”
She acknowledged the challenges of adjusting to a new normal but shared her optimism for the year ahead: “I look forward to a fulfilling year. There is much to anticipate, and I deeply appreciate everyone’s continued support.”
