Prince Andrew has been reported to the police following allegations that he used a false name to register a company.
The Duke of York, 64, reportedly used the pseudonym “Andrew Inverness” when he co-founded Naples Gold Limited in 2002 alongside sports retail tycoon Johan Eliasch.
Graham Smith, CEO of the anti-monarchy campaign group Republic, has filed a complaint with Scotland Yard, accusing the prince of submitting false information to Companies House. The Metropolitan Police confirmed it is assessing the report to determine if further action is necessary.
Mr. Smith told The Telegraph, “Andrew must be held to the highest standards. The royals appear to believe they can act with impunity.”
The pseudonym “Andrew Inverness” is believed to be derived from one of Prince Andrew’s lesser-known titles, the Earl of Inverness, bestowed upon him by Queen Elizabeth II in 1986 when he married Sarah Ferguson.
This is not the first time the Duke has used the pseudonym, which has appeared in the registration of four companies at Companies House.
Smith emphasized the broader implications, stating, “Filing false information with Companies House may seem trivial, but the UK faces serious issues of fraud committed in this way. While no such fraud is alleged here, Andrew must still be held accountable.”
In a related development, it was revealed that Urramoor Limited, the firm managing Prince Andrew’s private investments, has applied to be dissolved. Documents filed last week show the company, over which Andrew had “significant control,” is set to be struck off the Companies House register.
Urramoor Limited previously faced financial difficulties, with records indicating it was £208,000 in debt before receiving £210,000 in funding from an anonymous donor in December 2023.
The investment fund was initially established in 2013 under the name “HRH Andrew Inverness,” around 18 months after Prince Andrew stepped down from his trade envoy role due to his controversial ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
The decision to dissolve Urramoor Limited was signed by its director, Arthur Lancaster, on January 3.
