Sunday Omisakin, one of the ex-convicts pardoned by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on December 24, 2024, has been remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Centre.

This comes after his rearrest for stealing a plasma television set just eight days after his release.

Omisakin, who was listed as number 8 among those granted clemency, reportedly broke into a house in the Iludun area of Osogbo on January 3, 2025, and stole a plasma TV valued at ₦600,000.

One of the charges filed against him reads: “That you, Adebayo Omisakin Sunday, on January 3, 2025, at about 12:00 pm at the Al-Medinat Area, Iludun, in the Osogbo Magisterial District, did break and enter the house of one Shittu Damilare and steal one plasma TV valued at Six Hundred Thousand Naira (₦600,000).”

The second count states: “That you, Adebayo Omisakin Sunday, on the same date, time, and place, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal one plasma TV valued at Six Hundred Thousand Naira (₦600,000), property of one Shittu Damilare.”

The charges are in violation of Sections 411(1)(2), 383, and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

During his initial arraignment on January 7, Omisakin applied for bail, but Magistrate A. Adeyeba adjourned the case to January 10 for a ruling. The prosecutor, Kayode Adeoye, requested that the defendant be remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Centre, where he remains as the case proceeds.
